1. Did you go straight into your Apprenticeship from school?
No, I worked as a Manager at a Café for over a year after my A-levels, being responsible over HR, Marketing and Admin. I started an Instagram account for the business and overrun the Facebook account, to then create a website. While working Full-time I also started a blog, with the first blog post being about Apprenticeships and University.
2. Why did you choose to do an Apprenticeship?
I wasn’t 100% sure I wanted to go to University, I couldn’t afford it as I was living independently, so finding a job that pays well as well as offering training, was a great option for me.
3. How did you find out about your Apprenticeship?
Through Indeed. Unfortunately, I was unsuccessful a few times when applying for Apprenticeships within Oxford. When this job vacancy came up, I was thrilled as it was exactly what I desired! Having the choice of Marketing, Sociology and being able to be creative, was the perfect mix and the Skoll Centre fits that well!
4. What have you gained from your Apprenticeship – skills, experience etc.?
Being only a month in the job I have gained more than I expected. I have gained knowledge in many marketing programmes being WordPress, MailChimp, Canva, Hootsuite, Google Analytics and Lumen5. While still having several training sessions booked up for the future. In addition to this, I have gained knowledge in the brand guideline of the University, enabling me to use this info to create digital and general content.
5. What has been your proudest moment so far from doing your Apprenticeship?
Going to my first event, Skoll Venture Awards Pitch Event. Responsible for live tweeting on the night as well as liaising with the photographers.
6. What do you plan to do next?
Hopefully, carry on working with the Skoll Centre and study towards my Level 4 in Digital Marketing.
7. How will your/has your Apprenticeship helped you to achieve this?

8. What advice would you give a young person who might be thinking about an Apprenticeship?
Keep working, keep striving, never give up! We all fail at some point in our life, but it's our responsibility to get up and keep pushing. Don’t be afraid to apply for as many Apprenticeships, jobs and Universities.
9. What advice would you give an employer who is considering employing an Apprentice?
Rewarding to see a young person that you manage will grow in confidence, maturity and skills.
Top tips: Set email notifications on websites such as Gov, UCAS, Indeed, University of Oxford Apprenticeship Vacancies, OxLEP etc.
